The stories, Sweat and $100 and Nothing!, are two very similar stories that focus on the husband and wife going through issues of their own during a time period where this type of behavior is not commonly seen.
$100 and Nothing is short story about a wife named Mary and a husband named Charles. Mary is a very sweet woman who was running her own business. She marries this sweet man, and everything seems to be going very good. Charles loves her and does everything for her at first. Because she loved him so much she tried to buy him things that other men don't have. Then at some point things just seemed to go down hill for her. Everything that she buys for him he takes to the Salvation Army, well that's what he tells her at least. Mary's was then women and Charles would pick on her all the time, until one day she couldn't take it anymore and started eating everything in site. This was until she had gained so much weight it was hard to tell who she even was. She had done everything for t
his man; it was to the point that she didn't even want to smile anymore. This is how angry he had made her. She built a nice house for him, cooked for him and did everything for him and he was very unappreciable for it all. Mary took so much mental abuse from him. She eventually got sick and died. However, to Charles surprise nothing was left for him in the end. It just goes to show you not to bite the hand that feeds you. This story is very similar to
These two stories were very similar. The wives in the stories were strong women who kept themselves together even though their husbands did everything they could to knock them down. However, in the end both women succeeded. In the first story the women died but she still got her point across. In the second story the woman's husband died instead but I believe that he deserved everything that was given to him
