V.S. Naipaul
In the work by V.S. Naipaul, "Becoming a Writer," which is an excerpt from his work, "Prologue to an Autobiography, ‘Finding the Center’," Naipaul tells his background and how he struggled, as a writer, to come to terms with who he was as a writer and a person. It is evident how as he ages and gains experience, he gains wisdom and peace. Another writer, Jorge Luis Borges, also wrote a work which sheds light on how he has gained peace and hope, and something can be learned from analyzing how the blindness he received at age 56 affected his attitude and development. I’ll discuss some of the points that they make in their works and compare these two works and writers. V.S. Naipaul said that he always wanted to be a writer, and he was fortunate enough to land the opportunity to go to Oxford and get a start on his training in what it meant to be a writer. He was always intimidated by the title of "writer," because it made him get anxious about potentials he should be living up to. This is evident from the first paragraph on page 2692. Here, it say
