A detailed Summary of Ruminagui
He was called by the Spanish conquerors Ruminagui, Irruminabi or Orominabi.
According to some colonial historians Rumiñahui was Huayna Capac's son in an Ati, which was a lineage of Quito. Struggle for independence was not a new thing for an Ati, who had accompanied Atahualpa. When he saw Atahualpa defeated and all the vassals running away, he came back home, in order to organize a warlike defense.
He assumed rapidly, dictatorial powers, and called all the peoples around Quito for the defense against the "barbudos", as he called the Spanish conquerors for their long beards. Rumiñahui punished
