The time is the 13th century, the place is Florence, and the event is the Renaissance. The greatest outbreak of art and literature in the history of the world happened during the Renaissance as artists and writers began to portray the realization of self and went above the medieval ideas to forge a new visualization of the world. The Renaissance forever changed the representation of man, Christ, and the world to something never envisioned of in the medieval world. Artists and authors were on the leading edge of the Renaissance with sweeping new ideas and techniques that revolutionized the entire way a man viewed his life, the church, and other key figures. This new idea of "humanism" as it was called, would motivate man to attain new heights and become the theme of the high Renaissance.
