Irish Lit

The Irish Literary Revival opened up Irish culture not only to the people of Ireland but also the rest of Europe and America. In J.M. Synge's Riders to the see, Synge depicts a typical Irish peasant family in Ireland at that time, this depiction of peasant life in Ireland offers a unique look into the culture of the Irish, who were secluded form cities and the main countries of Ireland. This quote shows two things, the first being that the mother knows that her son is not coming back, and she is right. The second is that the seas of Ireland are mean and they have taken many lives. In a way some of the Irish look at the sea as if it were a god, meaning that it can predict life or death.

The mother is desperately trying to stop Bartley from going on the trip; she also is not giving him a blessing on his trip. One of Barleys sisters, Cathleen says that she should j
