John Grisham claims in his article "Unnatural Killers" that the film Natural Born Killers influenced a couple of teenagers, Sarah Edmondson and Benjamin Darras, to murder his friend Bill Savage and Patsy's Byers. Grisham states that the violence in this film pushes these teenagers to go on a killing spree. Grisham holds Oliver Stone, the director of Natural Born Killers, responsible for the acclaimed effects of the film. Grisham thinks that the film makers should be sued so the victims can have a financial compensation and so that the desire to make these type of violent films will be halted. I disagree with Grisham's accusations completely.

I am sure that Natural Born Killers had an impact on a lot of people. This film was very violent. The intention of film though was not to make people go on killing sprees. It was in fact, from what I saw, to enlighten people of how the media can glorify such things as murder. The more Mickey and Malory killed the more media attention they received. The film in no way told people that what Mickey and Malory were doing was right. If Grisham really watched Natural Born Killers and did not see this he has some problems of his own.
