Cairo is an over populated city, it is one of the most crowded cities in the world. Its citizens need to sprawl and go live in places where there are no inhabitants. When the military decree number seven of 1998 was issued, it had several reasons for it, the first reason is that the old buildings would not be demolished and left for the people who are already living in them. Another reason is to stop demolishing historical buildings in order to build high-rise apartment blocks. Building these high-rise buildings will open doors to people to come and live in this certain area which would create a big crowd. I believe that demolishing old buildings and palaces where there are people who have been living in them for years is wrong, this is done to build high-rise apartment blocks, trees in Maadi are also cut down for the same reason. These buildings could be built in the outskirts of Cairo. In the 1920's and 30's the French architects said that Cairo had the most beautiful architectural buildings in the world. Other investors wish to demolish villas and old palaces for building office buildings, although tourists come from around the world to visit these old architectural buildings and Old Cairo; hence, if we demolish them there will be no more evidence to show how and where people lived at the beginning of the nineteenth century, we must preserve our historical roots. An owner of a palace or an old villa should have the right to keep it the way it is, these investors try to make the land from the owners by law and build on them their own buildings. These villas are beautiful buildings and are a good monument to be there for site seeing. An example of this as known for the citizens of Egypt is 'The Baron' an old historic castle in Heliopolis; the castle is not used in any way; an investment group wants to buy the land to build on it a few buildings.
