At first Romeo thinks that love is pain to the heart, and that he will never get over the fact that he will never experience love with Rosaline, but his character drastically changes when he meets Juliet. At the beginning of the play Juliet does care about love and does not believe in it. Paris's and Lady Capulet's definition of love is in appearance and status.
