Power Dynamics in Muslim Society
The article Behind the Veil: A Muslim Woman Speaks Out portrays the power dynamics used to influence the life of Ayaan Hirsi Ali from early childhood to the present day, post 9/11 society. A Muslim woman oppressed her entire life, understood that the way Dutch government was run affected the safety and the equality of her and other Muslim women living in the Netherlands. Ali developed a leading voice by disapproving the governments support for multiculturalism, a social theory that encourages interest in many cultures within a society rather than only the mainstream culture. This social concept increased the population of isolated Muslim women in Dutch Society, due to the large group of citizens informed of the oppressions that Muslim women face by Muslim men.
