Role of Fariy Tales
Fairy tales are loved by people of all ages. For many young children, fairy tales may be the first type of stories that they hear. They are probably passed down from generation to generation, with each one hearing them as a child. Since fairy tales start with once upon a time, there is no set time in the past or present. This way these stories can go on forever. As long as people keep telling the fairy tales, they can keep being retold. Fairy tales were made for entertainment for young kids and did not mean any harm to them. Over the years, many people have argued that the fairy tales have negative effects on children. One negative argument is that fairy tales teach kids gender roles. As for the role of women, kids can get the wrong idea. Some women wait for the handsome princess to rescue them. The queen in Snow White just wanted to be the most beautiful women and nothing more. In most fairy tales, all of the women are skinny and pretty. When young girls see these things, they think they have to be like that when they get older. Many people thing this can lead to eating disorders and other problems in young girls. Some fairy tales can show the image of girls working and having to clean the house or be maids.
This can cause kids to stereotype characters. Since fairy tales are probably some of the first stories that kids here, they can develop a child's imagination. They are good for kids because they can get their mind thinking and they can see real life situations later on in life that are similar to a fairy tale. Having a good imagination is important for kids because it allows them to think with an open mind. However, is imagination always good? When kids see or hear about monsters and other things in stories, it could cause them to be scared and fear things. It can cause them to have nightmares and think that there are things like monsters under their bed and other things. Fairy tales can be good at teaching kids about things not to do. Kids can be taught that it is bad to lie with the fairy tale the boy that cried wolf. After he lies for so long, no one believes him when he actually does see the wolf. This is a good way for kids to realize consequences. Think about all of the fairy tales you have heard or read in your life. How many of them did not end with a happy ending. Almost every fairy tale does. It is not very often that the tales do not turn out for the best. This is not good for young kids who hear fairy tales, because they might always expect everything to go their way or for the best later in life. Kids need to learn how life really is and how to deal with the hard times they might face. To this day authors continue to write new fairy tales and pass old ones on in books, movies, and memorized bedtime stories. Almost every family tells fa
