Studies done on condoms in the US proved that latex condoms have less than a 2 percent breakage rate (Motamed 2002 pg4). But unfortunately many young people believe that getting an STD will never happen to them because they are not informed about them enough. More than 2/3 of of STD infections happen to people under 25. The use of condoms are rising among adolescents today but the poplutaion STD rate is still much too high. 80% of people have herpes and don't even know it. These kinds of facts need to be brought to not only teenagers attention but their parents alike. We need to inform our young people of the consequences that can happen with having unprotected sex.
