Ethics

There are two sides to every story. Some people believe the death penalty will lower crime rates and instill fear into the minds of would be criminals. Then there are those that believe two wrongs don't make a right. " The death penalty going back as far as mid-evil times as punishment for things as broad as stealing a mans hoarse, to killing a person. There are many different ways a person convicted of a crime that warrants the death penalty can be executed, and it makes no difference if the person is male or female, Black or White, young or old. Even though thirty-seven of the fifty states have laws stating they can sentence a person to death, it is not the sentence that is usually handed down. A mandatory nation wide use of the death penalty will bring fear into the minds of criminals and give a sense of security to the American people.

Capital punishment is defined as "having reference to or involving the head or life hence punishable by death". Capital punishment has been used since ancient times as punishment for many offences. Since the beginning of the US, America has also used capital punishment for many crimes. This has gone on until a small group started to question whether it is moral. Today most

The United States needs to start in-forcing the capital punishment. " The united states leads the world in murder rates, but not education, trade or health care( ). If out of the 2500 hundred people on death row only 200 hungered of them have been executed, then that is profound. " A murder is committed in the United States every twenty four minutes"( ). Yet we have only executed around 200 hundred people since 1967. Think of all of those families whose child or children were killed, and were is the murderer?

Great majorities of people against the death penalty are against it because of god and the bible. " Stop! What god has created will not destroy"( ). A slogan held up by a man outside an execution, yet when reading the bible it states other. Romans 13:4 states

The thought of someone performing cruel and unusual punishment on another being sends chills down the backs of most people. Do murderers really forfeit there right to live, by their act? " Most people believe they do, certain rights are often taken away for the good of society"( ). If a person robs a bank and is imprisoned does that person not lose his rights? Is everything justified if the life of the murderer is taken, should every punishment match the crime committed. An eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth, at least if we did it that way the person who committed the act would feel how the victim did, and hopefully understand somehow why what they did was wrong, and why they deserve to die.

Taking all of this into consideration, the use of the death penalty as a mandatory sentence for murder would make the criminal think before committing this terrible crime. If they knew they would pay with their life for taking anthers life it just might be the answer to bring down the number of murders committed in the United States each year. With the bible stating that one should pay with their life, and a humane way to execute a person no matter man or woman black or white. Justice for the victim's families should and needs to be served, with little or no exceptions to the death penalty. Taking all of this into consideration if the death penalty was implemented in all fifty-state criminals might think twice before committing such heinous crimes such as murder.

"Behind bars most people would say( ). Yet he is watching Television, or playing basketball and moving around. What is this country coming too, where is the justice!

most cases. When asked in nation wide polls " Most people strongly disapprove of executions of retarded criminals"( ), because it is hard to decide how the criminals mental state played in their crime. " As much as thirty percent of the people on death row may be retarded or mentally impaired"( ), which is not right and should be stopped. If it can be proven that the criminal was not stable during the time the crime was committed.

Judges and attorneys play key roles in death penalty cases." Florida is the one state that
