The History of immigration to AmericaImmigrants came to the United States for job opportunities, because where most of them came from there was no opportunity at all. There many other reasons for the departure from their country, whatever it was, it must have been serious. I know for a fact that if it wasn't they wouldn't of left. Throughout my essay I will describe in detail the history of immigration. The top three nations from where the immigrants came from are Germany, Ireland, and England. The Germans were coming here to relocate to avoid religious or political persecutions, suffered on account of their beliefs. The Irish came here because of the potato famine. So people were starving and dying and the only way out was to leave to the United States. The English people came here to improve their economy , by planting things like tobacco here and then exporting to England to sell, making England profits without having to use the land. The modern immigration come from Mexico, Vietnam, and Philippines. Mexicans have been coming here of course because they are our neighbor, but because they work on the fields, and because they want to get away from poverty. Viennese people have been coming here to get away from they over crowding in their country, and the restrictions on birth rates. Philippines is a unexpected one and I'm not quite sure why they were on the top immigrants list. Since we are on the modern immigration issue, I should say that there was worries with excepting these groups into our country. We were afraid of AIDS and the spread of other diseases, so we came up with tests they have to take in order to be allowed into our country. They have to be radical prejudice, must have some education, and they we offer welfare for them. That's why we have a good governmental service for our immigrant that's why most want to come here.
