Will There be Peace in the Middle East
Imagine going to sleep every night not knowing if you were going to wake up the next morning. This is what the Israel and the Palestine citizens have to think about every day before they go to sleep. This problem has been going on with Israel and Palestine for the past fifty years. They have been fighting over land they both believe is their holy land. They have tried splitting the land equally in half but both the leaders want it all. So the main cause of them still fighting is both the leaders are being stubborn. I have been studying this situation for the past fifty years I have been working with the CIA. The most recent attack happened last week where a Palestinian suicide bomber went to Rishon Letzion and killed more than fifteen people (CNN). In retaliation to the attacks of last week Israel positioned their tanks on the border of Palestine. This conflict is occurring because of a 50 year problem over religious land. Every day the citizens of these countries have to live their lives in fear wondering if there was an attack planned for that day against their community. For the past fifty years both Israel and Palestine have been competing to see which country will wave the white flag and give up the land. "Tens of thousan
The conflict over land dates back hundreds of years. The dividing of Palestine after World War II set off bitter disputes in the Middle East. The problems that have been going on in the Middle East dates back to over fifty years, when Palestine committed the first attack on Israel. "Tensions between Israel and the Arab states began to build again in the years following of the Suez Crises. The Suez Crises was the first war between Israel and Palestine and it started in 1952".(Opposing View Points) Fifteen years later the next big fight happened. Now that Israel was safe from and air attack, Israel ground forces struck like lighting on three fronts. The war was over six days long. Israel had lost only eight hundred troops in the fighting where Arab losses exceeded fifteen thousand. Although Israel was not the one who planned the attack there quick actions and there anticipating that there was going to be an attack led them to a very harmless six day battle where the Arabs lost almost twenty times the casualties and they planned the attack "In 1993 both leaders signed an agreement called the declaration of principles." They signed this agreement on September 1993 in the white house. The difficulty of making an agreement work was demonstrated when the assassination of Rabin in 1995. He was killed by a member of the Right Wing (A Jewish Extremist group who opposed concessions to the Palestine's) in 1997 the agreement ended and peace continues to be difficult achieve. Palestine made a cease fire where no attacks would be made for three weeks and both countries abided to this until the prime mister of Israel (Ariel Sharon) he killed two leaders one from Hamas and one from Fatah. This has been hard to achieve because of the terrorists groups have been causing all these problems. The Palestinian group Hamas, which the United States has declared a terrorist organization. Hamas has carried out several attacks on Israeli civilians and military targets since the current problem began 18 months ago. There is a lot of confusion going o
