John Gotti was known to some as the most prestigeous fathers of the mafia family who went from rags to riches, while others feel that he weaseled his was to the top. John Joseph Gotti was born into one of the poorest families in New York on October 27, 1940. His father was a garbage man and his Mother didn't work. John was the youngest of five children. As a child John's scared many of his teachers. He was

described as having an uncontrollable temper and behavioral problems, two traits in

which he would one day value. He was constantly getting into fights with older boys

who tried to take his lunch money. He soon got the reputation as one of the boys you

didn't want to mess with, especially after fracturing an older boy's skull in the

classroom. Gotti soon began running with smalltime gangs at the age of twelve. After

noticing a mobster named Albert Anastasia, he created a street gang called the Fulton

Rockaway Boys. Then, at the age of 16, he dropped out of school and began to model

his life after Anastasia. He got the job as debt collector in his gang. He was required

betrayed and immediately cut a deal with the Government to testify against his long

information for an arrest. On December 11, 1990 the FBI took Gotti, Gravano and
