American Values

Most Americans see themselves as people who are different than other people in America. If you were to ask an American what their culture was, they probably would say that they have no culture, and that they just use cultures of their ancestors. Americans tend to believe that they choose their own values; however, the values that are chosen have things in common. These values include being individuals; being equal to everyone; kindness to everyone; ability to use time; and having success.

Americans are very devoted to being individuals. Ever since they start their education, Americans are taught to think and act based upon their own feelings. Without this value, Americans probably would just copy everything that foreign lands do. For example, Americans would be dressing like the people of Mexico. Without this value, Americans wouldn't be the great country that it is. Without the invention of the atomic bomb, World War II could have lasted longer; thus, killing more peop

For Americans, time is considered to be one of - if not the most important - things in the world. They believe that time is a resource, like water, which can be used in a good manner or a bad manner. Americans use such phrases as, "time is money", and "you only get so much time in this life, so you'd better use it wisely." As you can infer, Americans admire a well - organized person; for example, someone who uses a schedule. An American is accepted to arrive at the correct time for a meeting or party.

As you can see, Americans do have some values that they all try to work on. I believe, that values of a country are the most important thing about the culture. So, if someone asks you what the American culture is like, you can respond, "We don't have a 'culture', but we all do have very similar values."

le. Even though the atomic bomb did destroy many, many lives, the war could have lasted another couple years.

Americans also want to be kind. Although, they might not
