Ellis Island was the first federal immigration station in the United States. It first opened in 1892 in the upper New York harbor by the statue of liberty. Then sadly ended in 1954. There were twelve million immigrates that had used the Ellis Island immigration system. Over the years, Ellis Island connected with three more Islands with a lot of structures, with a large hospital and a contagious disease ward. Ellis Island was known as the largest immigration system in human history.
