Esperanza is aware of the hardships of live which she is going through, and she knows that like her there will be many other children stock in the valley of poverty. That is why she wants to come back to Mango Street, to help others. She projects her mind to the future, to the day when she will shake the sky like a hundred violins (60). Her mother told her that she was born on an evil day and that most likely she will go to hell.
