There are inappropriate uses of stereotypes in the media. Stereotyping occurs when you characterize someone or something towards a set image or opinion. The media can be very persuasive in the way things are described, presented, or written. As the watchers or listeners we must be aware that stereotypes are present and used by many media industries, such as TV shows, movies, and commercials, and that not all statements stated in the media is true. The ways that these different industries use the stereotypes also affect us, because they could be offensive to some people while being funny to others, this only promotes mental, physical and verbal violence among people. To stop these stereotypes from spreading we must stop the use of stereotypes in these different type
There is inappropriate use of stereotypes in the media. Stereotyping someone or a group is a bad thing because it does result in many unwanted events, such as a rampage in the streets which will get the attention the people need to get their point across that the use of the stereotype has this effect on them. Just remembering that not all stereotypes are appropriate and that some are offensive could ignore the violence caused by stereotypes. TV shows such as, The Simpsons, have used stereotypes to their advantage and have made a lot of money out of it. An example of a stereotype from the episode of when the Simpsons come to Toronto is when they call Canada, "America Junior."
