hy I think Chinua Achebe choose the title Things Fall Apar
In Chinua Achebe's book Things Fall Apart I have almost completed chapter eleven. I think that Chinua Achebe choose that title because in the book, the character's lives have a lot of ups and downs throughout the story. Everything could be going right then suddenly something happens to ruin that moment. The ups and downs throughout the story, especially the downs show how things can and many times do fall apart. My short summary of what I have read will give you a better understanding of my perspective. In the beginning, a character named Okonkwo had some ups in his life. He was well known throughout many villages, very wealthy and a respected warrior of his time. When Okonkwo was younger, his village honored him because he defeated Amalinzine better known as the cat in wrestling. The cat had not been beaten for seven years straight. On the other hand, Unoka, Okonkwo's father, put some downs in his life. Okonkwo is by design the total opposite of Unoka. He (Unoka) would always borrow money without paying the lender back. Unoka's wife and kids usually went hungry because of him. Unoka's ways of acting put Okonkwo through some major changes. In chapter four Okonkwo does one of the worst things he could have ever done. im already being bitter (because that's the opposite of his father), during the week of peace he did something that no one in the village could forget. Ojiugo, his youngest wife had left her hut before preparing his dinner. When Okonkwo found out about her leaving, he broke the peace when he had beaten Ojiugo for what she did. As a result, he had to sacrifice a lot to be forgiven, but not forgotten. This puts a lot of drama in Okonkwo's life, like it isn't already bad enough. After the week of peace, the villagers had began to prepare for their planting for the feast. Okonkwo doesn't care for the feast because he thinks that there isn't much to do. He figures out a reason to beat Ekwefi, his second wife. Okonkwo then decides to take everything off his mind by going hunting, but then Ekwefi says something to trigger him so he shoots his gun at her and misses. During this stage, a lot of things are falling apart in his life.
