A detailed Summary of Antigone: Battle of the Sexes


Is a woman stronger than a man? Under any circumstances, should men take orders from women? These questions have caused many conflicts between men and women throughout history and even today. Men often feel that women are inferior to them. Women often feel that they are quite equal to men and want more respect and opportunities. Personally, my place in this dispute is that men and women have strengths in different areas and it cannot be decided who is overall stronger than who. I believe that men are stronger physically and women are stronger mentally and emotionally. I developed this opinion through my own life experiences. It is unfortunate that this will be a never-ending dispute, as men and women both have strong valid opinions that cannot be changed.

I believe that men are physically stronger than women because of their hormonal structure. Testosterone naturally produces more muscle than estrogen. Also, men seem to be more involved with things like lifting weights to "bulk up." On the other hand, I feel that women are stronger mentally and emotionally. Of course there are exceptions to this, but women are more capable of expressing their emotions and using their words wisely. Also, many women seem to have down the "mind over matter" technique. For example, whenever I am sick, I do not lie in bed and dwell on the obvious. Instead, I close my eyes and drift to another place where I can relax and not think of the illness. I know there are many men who can also do these things, but women are generally in the state of mind to do this more easily.
