John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris was born in 1903 and lived in Brimigham, England. Wyndham tried many occupations before professional writing. John tried to have a career in law, farming, commercial art and advertisement. All of these failed. John began writing short stories in 1925. He sold to the American market in the 1930's.

During the Second World War John was part of the English Civil service and later the British Army. After the war, John began to write again in 1946. He began to write speculative fiction, a twist on science fiction. He did not us
