Macbeth

Macbeth and Banquo, who are generals in the army of King Duncan of Scotland, have just fought a battle and have defeated the Thane of Cawdor. The fame of their victory reaches the King before they have returned from the battle. On their way back, Macbeth and Banquo run into three witches, who hail Macbeth as thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor and king after that Banquo demands a prophecy as well and the witches say that he will be father of kings though he himself will not be one. Macbeth hurries to battle. He kills Siward and faces Macduff. Macbeth has been depending on the witches' prophecy, and his last hope is destroyed when he learns that Macduff is not of woman born but was "from his mother's womb untimely ripped." After fighting with Macduff, he dies and Macduff places Macbeth's head at Malcolm's feet and hails him as king of Scotland.

Macbeth visits the witches again so they can prophesy his fate. They show him three different visions. The first is an armed head, which is Macduff's symbol, which warns him to beware Macduff. The second vision is of a bloody
