Sweat and dirt stained my skin. My eyes lifted as my head went up, the rain was pouring down with force, and we still had to keep going up the hill for our next check point. The humidity made me feel dizzy, weighed down by 60 pounds on my shoulders. I wish I could stop to smell the flowers, but as Robert Frost said "I have miles to go before I sleep". That was considered the first hike. I didn't know what I got myself into...But I never gave up; I had the will that I was going to finish the hike. I realized I had potential for everything, even if it was very hard.
