Macbeth summary

Scene 1: 3 witches gather up and predict the war and that they're meeting with Macbeth.

Scene 2: A wounded soldier tells the king about Macbeth's bravery and the king says that Macbeth shall be the new Thane of Cawdor.

Scene 3: 3 witches appear to Macbeth and Banquo. They give each predictions about their future.

Scene 4: The king announces that his son Malcolm will be his successor. And in honor to Macbeth invites himself and the court to visit Macbeths castle.

Scene 5: Lady Macbeth reads her husbands letter about the prophecies, and when she is told that the king is coming to her castle for dinner she makes up her mind and plans to kill the king that night.

Scene 6: Occurs in a nice sunny day. Lady Macbeth welcomes her guests and escorts the king to Macbeth.

Scene 7: Macbeth wants to back out of the plan, but when lady Macbeth hears this she mocks her husbands fears. After they talk Macbeth is committed in stabbing Duncan while he sleeps.

Scene 1: Banquo and Macbeth agree in talking about their prophecies some day, but Banquo says he won't talk about anything that isn't loyal. When he leaves the room Macbeth hallucinates with a dagger floating in the air. He then hears the signal to


Scene 2: Lady Macbeth and Macbeth feel unhappy. Macbeth suffers of troubled sleep and loss of appetite, but they hide their troubles when guests are present.

Scene 6: In another part of Scotland Lenox and a second lord talk about the deaths of Duncan and Banquo and relate the news that Duncan's son Malcolm is in England gathering an army to overthrow Macbeth. Lennox supports Malcolm's cause.

Scene 3: In England Malcolm tests Macduffs loyalty, and when he sees that Macduff will be loyal a messenger arrives with the news of Macduffs family being killed. Macduff swears vengeance against Macbeth.

Scene 3: Murderers kill Banquo, but his son Fleance manages to escape.

Scene 6: Malcolm, Macduff and a lord of their party, Siward, prepare to assault the walls of Macbeth's castle.

Scene 1: A doctor and a woman look at Lady Macbeth sleepwalk with guilt confessing the crimes committed against Duncan, Banquo and Lady Macduff.
