Freedom is a beautiful thing to have, but when does my freedom become a prison? If I have freedom then I have no restriction and I can do whatever I want to do, but only to a certain extent. With freedom I also can express myself and voice my opinions, but I am not always allowed to act upon them. Even though my "freedom" has restrictions, I must think, would absolutely no freedom be a good thing or bad thing?
With freedom I have no boundaries and can view anything form around the world that is broadcasted on television. Freedom allows me to watch TV when I want to and watch different kinds of channels. But the freedom of watching channels that may show the viewing public, especially kids, an extreme amount of violence or drugs may cause controversy among parents and other adult. I know one time I was watching MTV and my parents questioned if I should be seeing the show due to the language content. But TV also teaches us about the world, and it is a vital form of communication. Millions of people across the globe tuned in to here of the tragic terrorist attacks of 9/11. It brought our nation closer and other parts of the world as well. So our freedom of watching TV does society more good than bad.
Freedom is also being allowed to voice my opinions and feelings. I am allowed to say, "I believe that marijuana should be legal for cancer patients to use to ease their pain," even though others might not agree. But you must realize that I only have the freedom to voice my concerns and not act on them. I may express my feelings that the KKK or the Taliban must be punished, but I can't go out and punish them myself because I'd probably get arrested or killed. And what does this cause...frustration. So my so-called "freedom" allows to me to say certain things but nothing drastic can be done as quickly as I would hope. Sure I can protest outside a tobacco building and scream, "Murderers!" but I can't go inside and destroy their property and factories. Also, all the protesting and court lawsuits may end up changing very little, so I would have wasted my time and effort for merely nothing in return. But at least I hot the chance to her my emotions out and not have to keep them coped up inside, which could cause even more anger and madness. And my protesting can also influence more powerful people that agree with me to take action to.
As you can clearly see, my freedom is not totally "free" and many sometimes cause trouble and mayhem. But I would rather not deal with someone else c
