Archetypes
A detailed Summary of Archetypes
Carl Jung is a psychologist who experimented with archetypes and developed
theories about them. An archetype is an universal symbol that is preconsciously known
to man. The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien illustrates several of these
archetypes. Three main parts separate the hero archetype. The Fellowship of the
Ring illustrates these three parts, the separation, the initiation, and the return. The
separation is when the hero becomes separated from the normal, or when the
"adventure" begins. The initiation occurs when the conflicts take place. Finally, the
return occurs when the hero grows throughout
