Crime

In today's day and age, crime has risen from the past decades. If we look back in the 50's and early 60's, our country was just fine with what we had and what we knew. Crime was something that no one feared, talked or knew about. We were all clueless about the subject; everyone went on about his or her own business.

Knowing nothing, nobody feared anything. But as the arrival of the First World War came into play, people became aware of what they can and cannot do. They became smarter than what did the government and authorities expected, and that led to stealing of the small kind, at first. When people knew that they could get away with the little things they became greedy and, of course, wanted more. So they went big, and it got bigger and bigger and before you knew it the ski was the limit. Everything was within reaching distance. But who was to blame? The Government, the White House, or how about the law Enforcement agencies? Maybe if we take under consideration the conflicts that had taken place in the past years/decades. For example, all the scandals in the White House and the Supreme Court, or the rise and fall of certain major corporations causing the stock market to spike or take a severe nose dive. All thes

What is the "No Stand" philosophy? It is a way of going about crime fighting. Except with this style, the smallest crimes are the ones who receive the most punishment. This is done in order to send a message to all major crime committers that there will be no tolerance what so ever on crimes that are being committed. You commit a crime, you be prepared to pay the price, and with the philosophy taken only the heaviest price will be enforced no matter what crime was committed. The origin of this philosophy has to be given credit to a man by the name of Rudy Guliani, who came up with this philosophy a few years ago while serving his dedicated years as Mayor of New York. His intentions were to do exactly what he did, to attack crime at its weakest point. To send a message to all out there that there was to be no toleration of any crime what so ever. However, the only way that this was to be achieved was to have full cooperation from all surrounding supporters, for example, not only the Mayor and his supporting cast, but also the police department and federal courts of New York and state. Proof if this man's philosophy had to be dated back when he brought the crime rate of the city of Brooklyn down 26% over an eighteen month span. (Johnson, Brad. "Update In L.A." Return to Freepublic Home Page. Freepublic.com 21 Jun. 1998). Rudy Guliani demanded different stages in his philosophy, high tolerance and low tolerance. He first focused on cracking down on the smaller crimes. His intentions were to start out by, "eliminating the smallest fish in the pond (Cullum, Leo. "No Stand not Standing in L.A." The New Yorker Jun. 1999: 14-15). Rudy Guliani demanded different stages in his philosophy, high tolerance and low tolerance. He first focused on cracking down on the smaller crimes. His intentions were to start out by "eliminating the smallest fish in the pond." (Cullum, Leo. "No Stand Philosophy not standing in L.A." The New Yorker Jun. 1999: 14-15) By doing this he can focus on catching the "big fish", and without any thought of remorse he and the entire New York authorities can bring the hammer down hard on all major crime committers. By doing this, Guliani gained the respect of all high authorities and had full go and cooperation from all New York. Having his knowledge under his belt, Guliani went at New York's crime lords with everything he had. Slapping every crime with the heaviest hand. And when the cases went to the Supreme Court, they too knew of Guliani's intentions and gave maximum sentences.

e different examples, if taken under consideration, make pretty good sense of the reasons that cause crime and conflict.

Mayor Guliani's philosophy was of genius thought, and worked to perfection, but only with the right ingredients to back it up. If steps are taken correctly anything can be achieved, whether large or small, it can be accomplished. I think that Guliani had great support with the work
