Images of three headed daemon beasts doing battle with big, muscular guys heaving swords is the usual things a person thinks of when they hear slaying a monster, but this is not the only type of monster that can be slain. Modern social and ethical problems and issues could be consider monsters to be thwarted. These monsters all contribute to the downfall of society or humanity in same way, shape, or form. For example, Disease, Famine, and the misuse of the word ignorant are all plagues on humanity and need to be stopped. These "monsters" are slain by the doctors, humanitarian, the superpowers of the world and a dictionary.

Diseases around the world kill millions of people each year and there is no way to bring about an end to all of them. Doctors, and scientists and the equivalent of the sword totting mad man. They use their minds and expertise to develop cures for diseases and try their best to save as many lives as possible. A good example of this is the total annihilation of the small pox disease. Doctors have eliminated this


Everyday a commercial for aid to famine stricken countries airs on T.V or radio.. While it is not prevalent in the superpowers and developed nations of he world, it is a wide spread problem in third world nation and developing nations. People starving to death and suffering form sever malnutrition is a horrific site. Many people, organizations and countries support the fight against this. The US, UK, and other countries with in the UN send millions of pounds of food, technology and money to these starving countries to try and help in the fight. These nations try to teach the people proper and efficient farming techniques. But it is not only Countries that are battling this problem but also organizations like the Christian Children Network. This organization sends young children in these nations money to buy food, get an education and quite possibly give them a chance at survival.
