Starbucks Comparison
How often do people come across public places, which either represent the same service or is the same service? There are many public places with duplicates scattered throughout the same state, the U.S., or the entire world. Though many people, if not all, have encountered two of the same places, how many of them have actually stopped to realize how similar or different they really are? For example, Starbucks. How different can any two Starbucks really be? This essay will reflect on comparing and contrasting two different Starbucks in towns right next to one another. The first Starbucks I went to this past week was in Crestwood, the second in Oak Lawn. The first one will be referred to as The Crestwood Starbucks and the second will be The Oak Lawn Starbucks. I sat down at each one with a pen and paper looking at the obvious and the hidden features of the two coffee houses. Both, the Crestwood Starbucks and the Oak Lawn Starbucks, are located off of main streets in a little plaza center with a few other mini stores. The Crestwood Starbucks is off of Cicero Ave.; it is place between a pizza place, cigarette store, a dry cleaners, and a Boston Market. The Oak Lawn Starbucks is located off
Each one sold coffee, chocolates, mints, coffee cups, coffee makers, thermoses and games on display throughout the store.. The only difference was the Oak Lawn Starbucks has 3 more displays, making that 6 displays, than the Crestwood Starbucks. They held the same things and looked the same but there was just a larger quantity at the Oak Lawn Starbucks. They each had a round table with a black table cloth on top of it where they had board games for sale; this is to attract the costumers, like the chess-topped tables, to encourage them to spend more time there and, consequently, purchase more. The entrances were diagonal from the register area and there was a black rug at the entrance and in front of the registers. Only the Oak Lawn Starbucks had an emergency exit; it was to the back right of the coffee house, furthest away from the entrance and the register. of 95th street; near a Hollywood video, Bedding Experts, and Cingular. Though they aren't placed in a mall, or right next to a mall, these two areas still attract a good amount of business. They are both orderly organized. The people who travel through it usually understand how the layout is: order and move to the side to the pick up area. A majority of all Starbucks' is selling coffee and encourages people to drink the coffee from the numerous amount of advertisements. Starbucks, too, encourages their customers to try different coffees or drinks from the display poster. They look and sound delicious on the display; who wouldn't want to try it?. After observing only two Starbucks, it appears they all seem to run the same and are organized the same. The design and colors of them are pretty similar to one another, just one may use a few more colors or more of a certain color. The layouts of the two I compared and contrasted were both of an "L" shape. It is not just the two Starbucks that hold the same theme, but their fellow stores do the same. From the one's I have encountered, I remember them all to be si
