To extent does Reservoir Dogs conform to the expected
I believe that the film Reservoir Dogs does not conform to the typical conventions of the gangster genre. I also believe that the director (Quentin Tarintino) has made the conscience effort not to put the typical conventions of the gangster genre in this film because he realised that many films before had used them and although they were very successful ( The Godfather trilogy, Goodfellas, Casino, etc).
He knew that his film would be seen as a poor imitation of them and also he thought that the target audience (18-40 year old males) would be bored of watching a very similar type of film to the others. So for these reasons he decided to step away from the typical conventions of the gangster genre in order for his film to be as successful as possible.
The first and most striking way that Tarintino has stepped away from the gangster genre is by not using the idea of the gangsters being a "Family", because none of the gang memb

Which is shown with the undercover policeman in the gang and the Mr. Pink suggests leaving with the diamonds to Mr. White.
Instead they all appear to be wealthy white Americans who are using crime as a way to keep themselves in the manner they are accustomed. The reason I believe that Tarintino has decided to abandon the myth that all gangsters are Italian-Americans is because in the time period when the film is set (mid 1990s) there is not the same number of Italians emigrating into America so there was not the need for them to turn to crime to earn power and wealth.
In conclusion I believe that Reservoir does not show the typical conv
