Once upon a time there lived a woman called Eliza.

Eliza was a slave and worked on a cotton-plantation.

One day Eliza decided to run away and be free.

She set off and ran as fast as she could, the slave-hunters saw that she ran away and they followed her.

She came to a lake with ice floes in it.
