The feeling in the pit of my stomach was like nothing I ever felt before. Terror, excitement, anxiousness all compressed into one lump, weighing down on my stomach as if it were made of lead. I just stood there reading the same words over and over again, "DMV Testing Facility." Finally, I summoned up enough courage threw open the door, and stepped in. I was so overwhelmed with emotions that I was barely able to stutter out my name to the intimidating secretary. "Have a seat, third desk on your right, the test will begin in 5 minutes." I quickly stumbled to my seat and immediately started reviewing my driver's manual.

I just had it open for a second when a grumpy elderly man belts out, "Close your books, you can begin the test as soon as you receive it. Waiting for him to pass me a test seemed like an eternity, my stomach was twisting and tur


As I began to take the test I began to realize all the studying had paid off-it was easy! I was overcome with relief, until it hit me; the hardest part was yet to come, the driving test. My peers are I are then led single file outside and lined up along a brick wall. I was so nervous I thought my knees would buckle at any moment. I would have been more comfortable in front of a firing squad. I was then led in front of a lime green station wagon that looked like something my grandmother would drive. When I attempted to open the car door, I was greeted by a high-pitched squeal that sounded like something out of a horror story. I quickly sat down and attempted to greet my instructor, but all I received was "just drive." Whatever nervousness I had before this point seemed miniscule compared to how I was feeling now.
