At the end of the novella Lennie had two hallucinations, one of his Aunt Clara, and another one of a large rabbit. The hallucinations gave the reader a huge insight about Lennie. The hallucinations effectively show us that Lennie didn't have a conscious and didn't truly understand why killing was bad. The hallucinations revealed that Lennie's mentality was that of a child. Although the endings of the movie and the novella had differences, there were also similarities. Candy, an older ranch worker, was the unfortunate one to find Curley's wife dead. Instead of running and telling everyone about her death, he chose to find George and tell him first. The significance of this shows that Candy cared and may have been sensitive to the mentality of Lennie. He also knew that the inevitable would probably happen, the hunting and killing of Lennie. By giving George this opportunity showed that Candy was sympathetic and compassionate. Mr. Sinise may have kept Candy as the character who found her for precisely the reasons stated above.

nnie had the hallucinations and how they actually were consequential. His reason behind doing so was not to confuse the viewer. Creating the hallucination scene authentically probably would have been difficult and would not be within the limits of time or budget.
