The resulting letter revealed to Elizabeth how she misjudged both him and Wickham. With the extent of her mistaken prejudice suddenly apparent, she was humbled enough to begin to look at Darcy in a new way. Admitting her error demonstrated how she matured emotionally, and was now able to admit when she was wrong. This new change of attitude allowed her to notice Darcy's real nature. For example, when she was visiting Pemberly she accidentally ran into Darcy. She observed how he was a complete gentleman, despite her previous rudeness. This courteous behavior illustrated his love for her and she realized she had been just as arrogant as he had.
