Over the years, people have set out in many different ways, to portray the brutal and unjust treatment of the men in governmental power toward the many Native American tribes and people. The director of the two films, "Incident at Ogala" and "Thunderheart", is trying to release evidence of the largely corrupt justice system of the American Government that controls the lives of the Native Americans. The director is giving the message that the same white brutality that began hundreds of years ago continues and manifests in today's society.

Of the two films, "Thunderheart" affected me more intensely than "Incident at Ogala". The detail and complexity of the characters made their lives more realistic. Although "Incident at Ogala" displayed accurate detail and footage, the formality of the film is less interesting. While the people that spoke were meant to symbolize the reality of the incident, many of their emotions seemed hidden in order to match the image of a documentary. It was harder to see the peoples' anger and pain as they told their stories in a matter-of-fact style. The emotions displayed by the characters in "Thunderheart" allowed viewers to relate to each on a more personal level. The movie also allowed the actors that had personally experienced the incidents to express themselves dramatically instead of composing themselves for a documentary.
