The introduction of this movie starts with a fast-forward of the events to come. An elderly man steps into a graveyard, this gravesite is dedicated to the soldiers who have died at or have started their missions on Omaha beach in Normandy, France. The elderly man, walking through an endless amount of white crosses comes to a certain grave and falls to his knees and starts weeping, the elderly mans son comes to aid his father in his time of grief. The man looks up at his son and all you can see is his eyes fixed, slowly moving towards his eyes the movie transports into one of the best war movies ever made. It is June 6, 1944. The location is Omaha beach; the American army is set to land there to start their missions, led by Captain John Miller(Tom Hanks). This scene set the mood for the rest of the movie. Capt. Millers military assignment is changed when he finds out he has to go on a manhunt to find Private James Ryan (Matt Damon). Private Ryan is one of four brothers that have enlisted in the army, the reason for finding Private Ryan is because all of his brothers have been killed in the war and he is the only one left, Capt. Miller is sent to find Ryan an to relieve his duty as an army officer. Many men died to save this one man, and the movie makes it to believe that the burden is upon Ryan's shoulders for the rest of his life. Saving Private Ryan is Portrayed as a graphic life like adventure war movie that keeps you on your toes. The plot was strong and the lines were very well written, once again Spielberg blows his audience away with his excellent portrayal of World War 2.
