Reflection and Revision

A detailed Summary of Reflection and Revision

This semester of English 111 has forced me to focus on my writing more in-depth than any other class I have taken. I have always taken my writing lightly without ever really trying too hard. These past few months I have not changed much in terms of my writing process but rather the way in which I approach a writing assignment. I have learned that each different writing situation requires a certain amount of preparation. Or maybe that there is no one right way to approach a writing assignment, that each situation calls for a different style.

I feel that my personal best piece of writing this semester was the first short essay. It required me to watch a movie and compare and contrast the writing style of the writer portrayed in the film with that of my own. It was easy for me to watch a movie and observe the writing style of the writer because the style is reflective of the writer's personality. This assignment was an exception to most of the other writing assignments in that I struggled with finding the best approach to prepare for the essays.

In the past with writing assignments it was easy to get an assignment and churn out an essay of the required length in a short amount of time. All it took was a look at the assignment s

I am not sure about what you commented in paragraph 4, sentence 5. I feel that I provided enough for the reader to infer that Brannon is not easily distracted and that is part of her writing style. You might say that the last sentence of the previous paragraph would be better suited at the beginning of this paragraph but I felt it was better as a lead into paragraph 4. There is a similar situation in paragraph 5. I feel I should have just combined paragraph 4 and 5. In paragraph 4 I am providing information about Brannon's writing style and how it is different from mine. I only touch on how my style is different in paragraph 4 and paragraph 5 is so short that it would be easy to just add it onto paragraph 4 to make it stronger.

adding more ideas about what I think of her style. I do this in the following paragraph but that leaves the third paragraph very weak.

The biggest change in my attitude towards writing happened while working on the interview paper. I had always approached writing the same no matter what the assignment was. In this essay, I began to realize that this is not always true. By the time I was working on the interview paper I had already began to see how the different assignments required a different approach. While searching for a subject to interview it became clear that there are so many different types of writers. At this point I thought of the obvious explanation that not all of these writers used the same approach. Also, I found that the subject I interviewed had a completely different approach to writing than me. From reading the essays in the reader I learned that writers don't just do a certain type of writing and that those also require their own approaches.

heet and just B.S. my way through the essay. I feel that this mainly due to the fact that I was always writing about a certain topic that I could research and learn enough about to
