Hamlet

How Hamlet Contributes in Some Measure to the Disaster in Which He Perishes

It is said that, "the hero in a Shakespearean play always contributes in some measure to the disaster in which he perishes.aE? This is very true of the play called Hamlet by William Shakespeare. Hamlet, the main character, falls directly into the elements of a tragedy, which results in several deaths, including his own.

Hamlet's contribution to his death was the result of several factors; including procrastination, lack of knowledge, being blind to his actions, being a scapegoat, and making mistakes because he is human and it is human nature to.

One of Hamlet's first mistakes was pretending to be mad once he found how his father was murdered. Through this he was forced to verbally abuse his love, Ophelia, which resulted in a loss of their relationship as a loving couple. It was the only way Hamlet could continue his fake madness, and make it believable to anyone who it concerned. During of the duel, Gertrude drank from the poison cup, Laertes was able to cut Hamlet with his poison sword, and Hamlet was able to cut Laertes with that same sword as well. It was then that Hamlet finally took the opportunity to kill Claudius, with Claudius' own poison, and was also is informed by Laertes that they both shall die as well.

Fortunately Hamlet was able reveal Claudius' guiltiness to himself through the play, but this only led to another poor decision. When Hamlet found Claudius praying and asking for forgiveness over his foul murder, Hamlet had the perfect opportunity to kill Claudius then, which would have saved so many lives. But he wanted more than just a private little murder, he wanted people to know about what Claudius had done before he was killed. He was also conscious bound by the morality of murder. He felt that by murdering Claudius right there he would be doing the same deed as Claudius performed, and Hamlet did not want that. This decision was Hamlet procrastinating what should have been done then and there, or not done at all, because if left it would escalate to more, which Hamlet appeared to blind hi
