Anti-Christ

Few religious people of Bible prophecy will deny that we live in the days just prior to the return of Jesus Christ. All around we see the signs of the Savior's return: wars, famines, disease epidemics, sexual vices, religious/ethnic persecutions, global pollution, floods, droughts, escalating violence, and the terrifying rape of our earth's natural resources.

A great many people think that the prophecy of the Anti-Christ is that of a single individual indwelt by Satan, or perhaps a world leader or politician who is able to deceive many people by his cunning. The prophecy of the Anti-Christ is quite possibly the most unknown prophecy in all of Christendom.

The word Anti-Christ is translated from the Greek word "anti-christos", and it literally means, one who denies or opposes Christ. Specifically, it means a great antagonist expected to fill the world with wickedness which will be conquered forever by Christ at his second coming. The Anti-Christ also means a false Christ.

The Anti-Christ has many names: "The Beast", "The Son of Perdition", "The Man of Sin", "The Lawless One", "The Little Horn", "The Wicked One", and "The Turban Head". Maitreya is the name visionaries have said is the Anti-Christ.

For nearly 2000 years, believers have spent considerable energy trying to identify potential Anti-Christs. They believe that the Anti-Christ will be handsome, have great charisma, and have great speakly ability. They also believe that the Anti-Christ will be very proud and boastful.

The Bible teaches that before Christ comes, the Anti-Christ must come. Here are nine men who have earned that title in history: Nero (68 A.D.), Justinian (565 A.D.), Frederick II (1250), Luther (1546), Napolean (1812), Hitler (1945), Reagan (1980), Gorbachev (1988), and John Pope II (1990's). Many Christians believe that the Anti-Christ is already walking on the earth.

Furthermore, most Christians agree with the prophesies that the Anti-Christ will act as Satan's chief agent on earth. The Anti-Christ- a sort of evil twin of Jesus in many ways, will forge a one-world government through promising peace to those who follow him. He will rise to a position of great power. With the help of his own false prophet, the Anti-Christ will gain control of the world economy, by forcing each person :to be marked on the right hand or the forehead". No one can buy or sell anything unless he has the mark. The mark is either the name of the beast or the numbe
