I never really admitted to my parents that I was a revolutionary leader, but my mother always had inkling of my secret life. She was always worried about my clandestine life underground, and she used to weep when I left on certain business for the revolution. My mother always wanted me to focus on my job in Shell and live a normal life with my wife and children. However, my father was oblivious to my involvement in Fidel's and Che Guereva revolutionary movement in the 1950's. He did not have a clue until I finally confessed to them when the revolution succeeded. When my father finally found out, he was very supportive, and he wanted to be a part of the new government. He became one of my assistants when I was assigned to an office in the new Cuban government.

Fidel Castro and Che Guevara both influenced and impacted my life in a tremendous and insurmountable way. Fidel and Che greatly impacted my revolutionary views. In the beginning, Che looked at me as a rich boy who would not fight along the other radicals. After some close encounters with the enemies police, Che's views changed about me and I had gained his respect. However, Che and I greatly disagreed on many points in the revolution. We spent many nights arguing until the sun arose just on one single topic. We did not feel the same away about what type of government the new Cuba should have, but through all the disagreements I had a great respect for Che. Che was a man who wanted to change Latin America as a whole. For that reason he went to South America to help out other rebels. It was in South America were he was shot and killed tragically.

I would like to meet Enrique Oltuski, now the Minister of Fisheries and Merchant Marines. I would like to know how could you over throw a government that had been established for many years. I always found it fascinating how a group rebels could succeed in ruling over a country. I would also like for Enrique to describe to me, in more detail, his experiences with Che and Fidel Castro. Of course, I would also like to know how Enrique felt those days when both his life and the revolution lay in the balance. Most importantly, I am interested in knowing what Castro, Oltuski, and other radicals did to stabilize the government in the early days after the movement. In conclusion, I would like to know more about Enrique Oltuski, the overall man.

The thrill of the revolution succeeding was an incredible, out of this world experience. Especially considering the many sacrifices that I made in order to make my part of the movement work. It was very exciting taking the government offices in Havana and knowing they belonged to us. The best accomplishment in my life was being the first Minister of Communication for the new regime in Cuba.
