Macbeth Essay
In the Shakespearian tragedy, Macbeth, there are many characters who greatly influence and contribute to the outcome of the play. Among the characters, Macbeth is the main character of the play. However, there are also other less significant characters who have a large impact on the plot of the play as well. Also among these characters, are the Three Weird Sisters and Lady Macbeth. The Three Weird Sisters (the Witches) are first introduced to the audience in the opening scene of the play. Lady Macbeth is introduced later on in Act I. The audience automatically gets a strange and cruel vibe from this woman; it is shown that she is evil She is shown to be cruel and cold hearted. Both the Witches and Lady Macbeth both put ideas into Macbeth's head, which causes Macbeth to listen to them, and in result, they influence Macbeth's actions, which impact the plot and outcome of the play; thus, Macbeth's own downfall and his own personal tragedy. The Witches and Lady Macbeth both influence Macbeth's actions, which impact the outcome results of the play. Towards the end of the play, Macbeth becomes curious about his future as King, and about his enemies, such as Macduff, and how they will affect him. So, he goes back to visit the Witches to see if they can reveal any more information. They then show him some apparitions. The first is an armed head, which tells him to beware of Macduff. Because of that, Macbeth decides to kill Macduff and his entire family, because he does not want to deal with anybody that might be a threat to him and his future plans. The second apparition is of a bloody child that tells Macbeth that no man born of a woman will harm Macbeth. Macbeth automatically assumes that no one can harm him, because he thinks it is obvious that everyone is of woman born. However, in the end of the play, the audience discovers that Macduff was not of woman born; he has to be surgically removed. The third apparition is of a child with a tree in his hand. It tells Macbeth that he will vanquish only when Birnam Wood physically attacks Dunsinane Hill. Again, Macbeth automatically assumes that it is impossible for Birnam Wood to attack his castle. However, in the end of the play, Malcolm's strategic attack tricks Macbeth, by having te soldiers attack by hiding in the trees of Birnam Wood. Lady Macbeth influences Macbeth's actions by giving him the ideas to kill Duncan. She comes up with a specific plan and arranges for everything to go a certain way. She continuously tells Macbeth that he is a coward and so he feels like he has to prove himself to be a courageous, brave man. So, Macbeth kills people who he feels would be a threat to him. He killed so many people that there was no way for him to turn back ,and so he has to keep pushing forward, and continuing to kill various people.
