In "The Great Gatsby", there were many outward appearances that did not seem to be true. The Buchanans had a deceptive appearance about them and Jordan Baker seemed to be an honest type of woman. With Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan, the attainment of their dream may have been less satisfying than the pursuit of their dream.

The Buchanans might have looked like a happy and lovable couple to the people that did not know the real Buchanans. But Tom and Daisy had marriage problems that no one really saw. Tom had many mistresses and cheated on Daisy constantly. They appeared as if they loved each other, bu
