Since the early eighties, the video game industry has started to explode. Looking back now on the first gaming systems, it's hard to realize how much they have evolved. One of the most popular systems to first hit the market was the Atari. Yes, the beloved Atari. Although the Atari was a phenomenal breakthrough for the industry, it is considered elementary to the video systems that today's generation has learned to love.

The first systems were minimal in terms of performance. Today, the XBOX, the newest system on the market, has more performance capabilities than most personal computers. The XBOX contains "an Intel 733MHz processor, the most powerful CPU of any console" . Although the release of the XBOX created record breaking reviews, it is now about to go above and beyond expectations with the release of XBOX Live.


The release of XBOX Live has made a huge impact on the computer industry. Before the introduction of XBOX Live, PCs were the only option for playing video games over an extended distance. PC gaming companies are noticing a huge impact on sales due to the competitive prices that XBOX is able to offer. PC companies have depended on the adolescent age group, which dominates the gaming industry, to account for a large portion of computer sales as well as game sales. Now those same companies are seeing that "more expensive" doesn't always mean "better quality." Thanks to XBOX Live, we are now able to race a car over the internet without paying close to what you could purchase a real car for.
