During the recent months, there have been over 1,000 sick passengers and crews aboard different cruise ships. The contracted illness is a Norwalk-like virus which is a number illnesses that can cause diarrhea, stomach pain and vomiting for 24 to 48 hours. The virus can be passed through contaminated food and water, but health officials determined that it was contracted from person-to-person contact on the ship and began with an infected person on previous cruise.

Cruise companies are resolving this by putting the ships out of service and disinfecting them thoroughly. Despite the cleaning, ships are still coming back with hundreds of sick people. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) found no problems with food handling and potable wa
