In The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is it clear that only through the use of literary elements are we able to see how truly great a story is. In this particular short story, similes, point of view, and plausible plot, help to make the story extremely likeable. It is as if this story was a flower in the midst of a busy city and the only thing it needed was water to survive. The water serves as the literary elements and what they did was help the flower to blossom and be recognized even among the tallest buildings.
Being able to tie similes into the story, is something that must be done in order to make the reader think of how something not only connects to the person but to other objects in the real world.
