Perhaps one of William Shakespeare¯s most memorable plays would have to be, °Romeo & Julietą. The congratulatory success that he received was tremendous, and so many of his works were made into movies. His play Romeo & Juliet was re-created in 1997, starring Leonardo Dicaprio and Claire Danes as the young star crossed lovers. A lot of William Shakespeare¯s play dealt with the same plot line, but with many twists and turns along the way.
The older version of the movie as well as the newer version has many things in common. For starters, the names of the characters remained unchanged, the portrayal of the characters was also the same. Technology changes as time passes, it brings a lot of differences between the older version of Romeo & Juliet with the newer version. In the newer version, their mode of transportation was cars instead of horses, their weapons were guns instead of swords, and their communication was the telephone instead of letters. Some other things which made these two movies different are ethnic variety, no African-American men were in the old version. In the newer version, one of Romeo¯s closest friends was a dark-skinned man. Ethnicity isn¯t a bit issue today because different cultures have learned to adapt to one another.
