The world revolves around money and the economy is the main guideline to distribute and gain money around the world. The United States has a leading role in this economy because it is simply the largest and the most wealthiest country in the world. Canada is the leading export country to our neighbours. The events of September eleventh two thousand and one, have crippled this great nation's economy and therefore has also crippled Canada because most of our exports are to the U.S. After the terrorist attacks, the borders between the U.S. and Canada have been tightened, the airline and tourist industries have slowed down, and people are afraid of recession. These economic events are the main reasons that have affected the Canadian economy.

The terrorist attacks have made the U.S. place more restrictions on their borders. The result of these actions have the Canadian economy in a streaming worry. " (1) Delays at the border are costing us tens of millions of dollars." This will hurt all of our exports to the U.S. They wont be purchasing as much of our products as before because they would expect these products to arrive in the U.S. very


The hijacking of the planes then led on to the World Trade Center and Pentagon bombings has most of the world's population worried about flying. The first couple of days after the attacks when the U.S. grounded all planes, travelers were stranded at airports all across the world. This has caused problems with flights delayed up to three weeks. There are many travel plans that have been ruined by these events. " (2) Some industry experts predicted 7000 to 10,000 more job cuts at Air Canada." These layoffs have affected thousands of Canadian families and aren't going to stop. This situation is because of the fact that many people are scared of flying after the attacks, which has made the airlines stop or lower the amount of their flight routes.

" (3) Air Canada needs $3 billion to $4 billion from Ottawa if it hopes to survive the crisis president Robert Milton said yesterday." Canada's surpluses are going to be all used up for the aid after the crisis. Canada will have to use less money into other funding such as healthcare and education. Therefore now there will be less money for the Canadians and more for the help of the crisis. Also
