A Not So Hopeless Christmas
It was exactly 3 days, 14 hours, and 23 minutes until Christmas.Well, atleast that's what Mom told me when I asked her for the 10th time today. Today the new babysitter is comeing over while Mom and Daddy do some last minute christmas shopping. The new babysitter's name was Samantha. Mom told me and John, my 5 year old brother, to call her Sammy, because she liked it better. Both me and John agreed we would. John is only 2 years younger then me. It was 5:30 at night now, and Sammy was coming over at 6;00. Mom was making Kraft Dinner while Daddy played 'Go Shopping' with me and John. Go Shopping is our family Christmas version of 'Go Fish,' the card game. "Go Shopping, Dad!"I said as Dad asked me for a Queen card. "Oh. That's not good. Another card for me. Opps! " Daddy gasped in suprise as he knocked the whole deck of cards onto the floor as he tried to pick up his 'shopping card.' "Uh Oh, Daddy!Ha Ha!Daddy made a boo-boo!" John laughed in a high piched way as he usually does. "Dinner is ready my sweety-pies!Come eat!"Mom motioned us to the kitchen table. John and I had just finished our Kraft Dinner when someone knocked at the door. It was Sammy! Sammy had hair as red as t
Sammy's face sent as red as the heart inside of her. She looked as if she was forever shocked to her very soul. When me and John woke up, Sammy was still here! John thought she stayed here all night. So did I. We went downstairs and discovered it wasn't just Sammy here. There was also Police Officers and some other people in fancy uniforms. "John and Clare. Your Mom and Dad were...um...k-k-killed by a drunk driver."Sammy stuttered and sniffed as she spoke and then she broke out and started crying. We woke up in the afternoon and we were hungry. Grandma said if we wanted to eat we were going to have to cook our own food. So we did. Well, more correctly, we tried. i snatched some eggs from the fridge. I got a pan and turned on the oven. Well, that's waht Grandma called it anyway. When I thought the oven was hot enough, I put my hand on it to see, It was. I have the burns to prove it. I screamed in pain and ran to the sink to sool my burning hand. but Grandma was already there. he Christmas lights on our house. Sammy looked very cheerful and she wore a smile that went all the way up to her ears.
