In a place where poverty, the homeless and the beggars are an everyday, everywhere, sight, you would think the government would at least come up with some radical scheme as to improve the poor people's way of life. But let's face reality, we live in a country where government officials and so called "public servers" are more concerned in keeping their pockets stuffed than concerning about "little things" like the nation's economy or more importantly the poor. Knowing this, aren't we, the common citizens of this overly corrupt country, also responsible for the plight of the poor? Aren't we liable to as much blame as those in the office? And aren't we also the one's responsible for reducing them to their dehumanizing situation? I tell you, we are. Often times we look at the poor from afar and blame, not ourselves, but the politicians. We blame them for everything, for the nation's stagnant economy, for the high crime rates, for the poor, and for
And lastly the moral issues of the film are about the poor and what we have to do about it. Though the film did not give a solution nor did it directly tell us that we are also responsible for the well being of the poor, it served as a revelation. And that by opening our minds to the plight of the poor, we may be able to become part of the solution rather than being part of the problem. Going back to the film, the real issue here is not a trial for a single man, but a trial for the poor in general. It is a trial where in, if we do not respond to our duties as Christians, the verdict may already have been given, and judgment already incurred. The doll of Mang Serapio, symbolizes hope.
